The Ways we all Write

Each of us is a writer, whether we realize it or not. Not everything we write is put on paper, though.

We write with our thoughts. Every thought leaves an impression on our minds, shaping what we remember and who we become. Philippians 4:8 tells us to set our minds on what is true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, and worthy of praise.

We write with our words. Every word we speak leaves an impression on someone else. Ephesians 4:29 reminds us to use our words to build others up rather than tear them down.

And we write with our texts. A text may be casual, but our words still communicate something—and they should still honor God.

Every day, we are writing something into the minds and hearts of the people around us and into our own.

Writing is just the art of communicating things in an understandable form. So this week, think about everything you "write."

Book Recommendation

Recently, I have been reading a book called “God runs my business” by Albert Lorimer. The book is a biography about R.G. LeTourneau, a businessman who built construction machines and dedicated his entire life and work to the ministry of spreading the gospel. When I first opened the book, I just thought it was going to be another old read, but I soon discovered what amazing stories and treasure it held for me! Benefits of Book Reading

Reading books makes you a more difficult person to manipulate because reading exposes you to arguments, actual evidence, and competing explanations.
Books make you question who you are and help you discover more about yourself. Sometimes books put the thoughts you’ve had into better words to reach a stronger conviction of what you believe.
Books broaden the scope of who you will become. Books expose you to different careers, lifestyles, ideas, problems, adventures, and possibilities you never would have thought of.

Writing Tip

This week’s writing tip is pretty general, but I think a lot of authors miss this one. Before you begin writing, it is really important to have a plan, or outline for what you are going to be working on. Just like any other project, if you begin without an end in sight, or a path laid out in front of you, you might get to your destination missing some things, or horribly bent out of shape. With this same reasoning, writing should be planned out beforehand, and done according to what you set out to write in the first place. This doesn’t mean you can’t change your plans! It just means that it’s a smart decision to write with organization… sometimes. Next Newsletter will touch on being a little wild with your writing!
