Paul as a Writer

A few newsletters ago, we looked at Moses as a writer. This week, let's look at Paul.

Paul wrote 13 books of the Bible, using his letters to teach, encourage, correct, and strengthen churches across the ancient world. Though he couldn't always be with them in person, he could still reach them through writing.

Paul used the tools he had to spread the Gospel and glorify God. Often, that tool was writing.

I doubt Paul could have imagined just how many lives his letters would influence over the centuries. Today, his words continue to teach Christians around the world about Jesus Christ and how to follow Him.

Praise God for the lasting impact of Paul's writings!

This week, be bold about sharing the Gospel. Use the gifts and tools God has given you, and don't underestimate the power of putting something meaningful into words.

You never know how God might use what you write—or how far your words might travel.

Book Recommendation

This week’s book recommendation comes from a pretty niche book, at least in my opinion, that I read in middle school, called The Cat of Bubastes. This book follows a fictional side character during the life of Moses, whose name is Amuba. Amuba is the prince of a nation called Rebu, and he, along with his two close friends, are taken captive because of a long series of events. If you like old fictional history, this is definitely a book for you. It starts slow, but by the end you’ll wish it kept going. Benefits of Book Reading

Reading books makes you a better writer. By being able to read all of the different ways that other people write and what they write, you can easily discover your preferred writing style and what you enjoy writing about.
Books allow you to skip the coaching class and directly teach yourself. Books allow you to access a plethora of knowledge that most professionals try to gatekeep with their online classes.
Books can help you make better predictions about the future. By reading about patterns from the past, you can directly see in what ways the world is likely to change in the future.

Writing Tip

I said last week that I would explain what I meant by being a little disorganized, which can help with your writing, instead of being organized all the time. It is important to stay organized while writing in one particular book, but if you are trying to grow your creativity and imagination and discover new ways to write things, it can be helpful to remove all rules. Go crazy! I’m serious; write whatever comes to mind, make a banana ride the back of a chinchilla, or tell the story of how the sky rained apple juice. Get loose, and go with the flow! You’ll be surprised what you can come up with.
